TechFlash: Microsoft Tag claims front-runner status among next-gen barcodes: Microsoft this morning claimed new momentum for its Microsoft Tag technology, which lets people scan color barcodes with their phones to automatically connect to online sites, phone numbers and other corners of the digital world. According to Microsoft, more than 1 billion Tags have been printed in the past four months, fueled by heavy usage in magazines and other print campaigns.

Microsoft might have missed out on the smartphone and the tablet, but bar codes, now that's a whole another story.

And looks like Yahoo finally wants to kick some butt in the web mail department. Yeah Yahoooooo!
BBC: Yahoo Mail gets first major revamp in five years: Texting and sending instant messages has been updated. Yahoo said the service will be twice as fast as Google's Gmail and Microsoft's Hotmail.... improved spam filtering .... "The challenge for them is to make having a Yahoo Mail address cool." .... "It has lost some of its chic or cachet to GMail among early adopters or the tech savvy so there is a brand issue there" .... "I think if Yahoo Mail performs well, they will win people over," he said.
I never stopped using Yahoo Mail. I log in once every few weeks to delete all the spam and unwanted email, easily about 99% of the bird droppings. And once in a while you will find an email from someone who never got news that World War II ended.
